Description
Magic in the Gothic is generally used as a device to allow characters to twist the natural order for evil purposes. InThe Monk, for example, Ambrosio uses an enchanted branch to sedate his intended rape victim, and later uses sorcery to summon Lucifer and escape the inquisition.
